摘要: Summary 1 Increasing concern over the sustainability of harvesting non-timber forest products (NTFP) has led to a growing literature on ecological impacts NTFP extraction. A large proportion are harvested for multiple plant parts, but few studies have assessed multi-use species. In addition, how harvest effects may vary across space. This information is necessary designing effective conservation plans many species that from variable contexts. 2 This study combined bark and foliage Khaya senegalensis (Meliaceae) reproductive performance in Benin. K. an important medicine malaria, leaves pruned by indigenous Fulani herders as critical source fodder their livestock, timber highly prized. Data characteristics were collected 12 populations spread two regions (Sudanian Sudano–Guinean). Half had history high intensity half subject low/no harvest. 3 Trees produced more fruit began fruiting at significantly smaller size drier Sudanian region than wetter Sudano–Guinean region. However, pruning decreased production not Pruning greater impact larger trees trees. High higher rates seed low populations, although seeds lighter. There no significant debarking or performance. 4 Synthesis applications. illustrates heavy can decrease patterns reproduction senegalensis, environmental contexts. Lowered lead decreases population long term. Effective ex situ strategies include increasing availability its promoting plantations programmes involving harvesters.
