Low-reflection, single-mode multifiber array connector (MAC)

摘要: The multifiber array connector (MAC) is a FASTECH optical for simultaneously connecting up to 18 single-mode or multimode fibers through the backplane. A low reflection version of single-mode, 12-fiber MAC was assembled and tested. fiber end faces were polished at slight angle plane perpendicular axis so that cast outside acceptance transmitting fiber. When bevel 5.50 degrees , less than -40 dB, connection loss averaged 0.6 dB with maximum 0.95 dB. Compared samples smaller angles, these losses within range scatter, hence effect on deemed negligible. measured reflections from both mated unmated connectors followed theoretical predictions closely angles.
