摘要: Abstract In the understory of many Juniperus woodlands, herbaceous cover and biomass are reduced or eliminated compared to interstitial grasslands. However, there some exceptions. Carex planostachys (cedar sedge) is a widespread species associated with J. ashei occurs in these woodlands central Texas. The purpose this paper was compare vegetation along gradient from below canopy into an intercanopy patch grassland. Levels light canopy, whereas litter moisture soil higher. Cover C. were higher edge. Total grasses at elevated levels light, litter, lower moisture. Spatial distribution suggests that tolerant shade may require woodland for growth development.
