摘要: Butenolides are well-known signaling molecules in Gram-positive bacteria. Here, we describe a novel class of butenolides isolated from Gram-negative Pseudomonas strain, the styrolides. Structure elucidation was aided by total synthesis styrolide A. Transposon mutagenesis enabled us to identify styrolide biosynthetic gene cluster, and using homology search, discovered related previously unknown acaterin cluster another species. Mutagenesis, heterologous expression, identification key shunt intermediate products were crucial propose pathway for both Pseudomonas-derived butenolides. Comparative transcriptomics suggests link between formation regulatory networks bacterium.
