摘要: Eye movements provide insights into what people pay attention to, and therefore are commonly included in a variety of human-computer interaction studies. movement recording devices (eye trackers) produce gaze trajectories, that is, sequences location on the screen. Despite recent technological developments enabled more affordable hardware, data still costly time consuming to collect, some propose using mouse instead. These easy collect automatically large scale. If how these two types linked, however, is less clear highly debated. We address this problem ways. First, we introduce new analytics methodology quantify level dynamic between pointer Our method uses volumetric representation movement, space-time densities, which allows us calculate levels physically different movement. describe compare results with existing methods from ecology. The sensitivity parameters evaluated simulated trajectories where can control levels. Second, perform an experiment eye tracking generate real interaction, apply test our case. Further, as tasks mimics route-tracing when map, it than collection exercise simultaneously investigate actual connection mouse. find there seem be natural coupling eyes not under conscious control, but breaks down instructed move them intentionally. Based observations, tentatively suggest for tracing tasks, could potentially similar information eye-tracking used proxy attention. However, research needed confirm this.
