The relationship between CSR and corporate strategy in medium‐sized companies: evidence from Italy

摘要: The paper responds to the recent calls for further evidence on corporate social responsibility (CSR) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Drawing extant literature, authors identify four characteristics contended by academicians as peculiarities of SMEs’ approach CSR: intrinsic relationship between CSR strategy motivated need continuously dialogue with stakeholders; centrality entrepreneur's ethos decisions; coexistence cross-effect economically instrumental ethically policies; finalization initiatives specific firm growth objectives. These are explored case an Italian company operating furniture industry. outcomes show how salient analyzing suggest areas research aimed at developing a thorough theory SMEs. In particular, we deepen analysis nature uniqueness companies’ CSR, providing possible interpretations reasons making different from both large companies.
