Hydrogenation of arenes by the RhCl3-aliquat® 336 catalyst

摘要: Abstract Acenaphthylene, fluorene, anthracene, phenanthrene, benz[ a ]anthracene, pyrene, fluoranthene, benzo[ c ] phenanthrene and some of their derivatives were shown to undergo partial hydrogenation in the presence RhCl 3 -Aliquat ® 336 catalyst highly selective manner. Olefinic double bonds found be hydrogenated prior aromatic moieties. In linear molecules, only terminal rings are reduced. C 9 -C 10 bond pyrene 4 5 linkage ones affected. Benz [ anthracene is converted exclusively into 7,8,9,10-tetrahydrobenz[ ]anthracene. Benzo[ give primarily 5,6-dihydro derivative. Chlorine bromine substituents hydrogenolysis when attached reacting moieties, but usually remain unaffected located on non-reacting rings.
