摘要: Bacteriological findings in 339 sinus secretions obtained by puncture were investigated 238 young adult patients with acute maxillary sinusitis. Aerobic and anaerobic cultures performed immediately. A total of 76% the positive. The most common pathogens isolated Haemophilus influenzae (50%), Streptococcus pneumoniae (19%), pyogenes (5%), Branhamella catarrhalis (2%). Coagulase-negative staphylococci Staphylococcus aureus 8 1% specimens, respectively. almost invariably present low numbers and, therefore, probably represented nasal contamination. Other aerobic species found only occasionally. Anaerobes 5% secretions. In one-half these, a concentration Propionibacterium acnes was sole anaerobe that found, it usually mixed facultative organism (suggestive contamination flora). Only 2% sinuses considered to have true infections (high concentrations several typical infection), indicating anaerobes are not significant cause sinusitis population. high recovery H. this study indicates aminopenicillins may be more appropriate choice than conventional penicillin antimicrobial therapy (only 2 168 strains produced beta-lactamase).
