Using Traffic and Safety Measures for Driving Simulator Validation

摘要: This study focuses on validating a driving simulator using traffic and safety measures. To achieve the objective of this research, signalized intersection that has one highest crash frequencies in Central Florida was replicated system. Eight scenarios were designed at experiment. Subjects classified by gender five age groups recruited to test eight scenarios. The experimental measurements from subjects performances compared speed observations field trends based police report analysis. It found drivers have similar behaviors risk patterns as real intersection. Therefore, experiment results validated simulator, indicating it could be an effective tool employed behavior research engineering studies.
