Potential and Limitations of Intervertebral Disc Endogenous Repair

摘要: Intervertebral disc (IVD) disorders, especially degenerative disease, reduce the quality of life, and are short effective therapy. A new direction for treatment chronic tissue organ diseases is to promote regeneration by harnessing endogenous repair mechanisms. In this review, we discuss potential in IVD, recent findings on IVD progenitor cells, stem cell niches involved repair. We also highlight factors which may restrict self-healing. Ultimately, advanced therapeutic attempts boost discussed, including bioactive factor delivery, gene therapy, activation cells chemokine mediated homing.
