Tailoring thermal properties via synergistic effect in a multifunctional phase change composite based on methyl stearate

摘要: Abstract Organic phase change materials (PCMs) have poor conductivity and are naturally flammable. In this effort, we report a multifunctional composite in which electro-to-thermal energy conversion could be realized by applying very small voltages as low 1.4 V. Methyl stearate (MeSA) is used the material, with expanded graphite (EG) support, nano-organophilic montmorillonite (nOMMT) ammonium polyphosphate (APP) flame retardants. Uniform interpenetration of PCM coupled synergistic effect additives performs superb properties improving thermal stability latent heat composite. The increased up to 3.6 W m −1  K , while enthalpy retained an efficiency 72% reached. Our tailored approach gives rise new avenue for practical application facile preparation.
