摘要: The problem of treating a set local area networks (LANs) as one Internet network has generated some interest and concern. It is inappropriate to give each LAN within an site distinct Internet network number. is desirable hide the details the interconnections between LANs from people, gateways, hosts outside site. question arises on how to best do this, even it at all. In RFC-917 Jeffery Mogul makes case for use "explicit subnets" in multi-LAN environment. explicit subnet scheme call recursively apply the mechanisms Internet uses manage of managing one network. this note I urge another approach: "transparent supported by multi-LAN extension Address Resolution Protocol. This RFC suggests a proposed protocol ARPA-Internet community, requests discussion suggestions improvements.
