摘要: Forestry use in Prosopis flexuosa woodlands the Central Monte is limited by low wood productivity and most of trees being multi-stemmed. Desert inhabitants have turned pruning into a common practice to get some forest products, increase production improve tree shape. In this study we tested practices used locals on different diameter classes intensities aeolian plains Desert. Two trials were conducted: (a) effects three types trees: adult multi-stemmed (7.5–15 cm basal diameter; n = 12 for pruned 10 control), young (3–7.5 20 18 saplings (<3 15 control); (b) compared intensities: heavy (50% crown removed 10), intermediate (25% removed; unpruned individuals (n 10). Basal diameters all stems, total height, largest smallest measured yearly. We estimated equivalent (EBD) volume. Linear mixed models (LMM), continuous variables, general linear (GLMM), discrete evaluating treatments variables. The response observed was an increased length branches, which both translated No initial recorded growth remaining stem. trees, detected five years after pruning. A greater found subjected vs. under Results suggested that could shape short run, stem long as other species received throughout world. This suggests be potentially obtain poles firewood without decrease but with branch growth, and, consequence, it included silvicultural management dominated sustainable at local scale.
