摘要: We investigated the effect of VEGF-mimetic peptide, QK, on ischemic brain damage and blood-brain barrier permeability in rat. QK administered by intracerebroventricular, intravenous, or intranasal route caused a 40% decrease induced permanent occlusion middle cerebral artery relative to that controls. No increase volume hemisphere compared contralateral nonischemic was observed rats treated with suggesting this peptide did not cause edema. The vessel evaluated intravital pial microvessel videoimaging, technique allows vessels be visualized through surgically prepared open cranial window. results showed any leakage intravenously injected fluorescein-dextran conjugates after intracarotid administration topical application cortex. Collectively, these data suggest may exert neuroprotective activity context stroke without promoting vascular permeability. Because VEGF's overshadowed appearance edema microbleeds, could represent significant step forward treatment.
