摘要: The Galileo spacecraft made its second and final encounter with Earth as it passed point of closest approach (C/A) 303 km over the South Atlantic Ocean on December 8, 1992. This, last three planetary gravity assists (Venus–Earth–Earth), changed velocity slightly so that elliptical orbit would intersect Jupiter 7, 1995, about 780 million from Sun. navigational accuracy, based DSN radiometric data enhanced optical navigation data, was nearly perfect. within 1 intended path 0.1 s early at arrival point.
