摘要: Background Although adoption, twin, and family studies have shown that suicidal behavior is familial, the risk factors for familial transmission from parent to child remain unclear. Methods A high-risk study was conducted comparing offspring of 2 mood-disordered groups: suicide attempters nonattempters. Recruited sites, probands were 81 55 nonattempters, with 183 116 offspring, respectively. Offspring assessed by investigators masked proband status. Probands respect psychopathologic findings, attempt history, impulsive aggression, exposure environmental stressors. Results had a 6-fold increased attempts relative Familial more likely if (1) history sexual abuse (2) female mood disorder, substance abuse.
