摘要: The ..beta../sup -/ decays of /sup 35/P, 37/S, 38/S, and 38/Cl were studied both experimentally via shell-model calculations. four decaying nuclei formed by bombardment 81% enriched 36/S triton deuteron beams. Gamma-ray spectroscopy was carried out with Ge detectors, either bare or surrounded a Compton suppression NaI(Tl) shield. One new Gamow-Teller decay observed in 35/P decay, one first-forbidden 38/S decay. Otherwise ..gamma..-ray measurements E/sub ..gamma../ I-/sub (and limits on I/sub for unobserved transitions) improved significantly over previous results. Shell-model studies undertaken order to bring these beta results bear an understanding the shell structure (sd) (fp) transition region at A = 40. An interaction constructed 1d/sub 5/2/, 3/2/, 2s/sub 1/2/, 1f/sub 7/2/, 1p/sub 1/2/ model space. This started from Wildenthal ''USD'' van Hees-Glaudemans interaction, which connected cross-shell Millener-Kurath interaction. Certain important two-body matrix elements single-particle energies adjusted fit experimental binding 40, 41, 42.more » then used calculate level spectra daughter 35/S, 37/Cl, 38/Cl, 38/Ar as well unique leading nuclei. techniques relatively large scale calculations are discussed detail, results.« less
