摘要: To the Editor: Human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HGE), first described in 1994 (1), is second-most common tick-borne disease United States; Lyme most prevalent. Both diseases are transmitted by blacklegged ticks (Ixodes scapularis Say) that abundant southern New York state (2). Factors influence risk for infection, particularly role of wildlife transmitting etiologic agent, Anaplasma (formerly Ehrlichia) phagocytophilum (3,4), to vector not well understood. In absence transovarial transmission (5,6), acquisition A. its must result either from feeding on blood reservoir-competent hosts or cofeeding uninfected close proximity infected (7).
