摘要: Adipose tissue expansion in obesity involves a series of cycles adipocyte hyperplasia, hypertrophy and hypoplasia due to alterations adipogenesis, cellular metabolism cell death, respectively. Increased frequency these may lead deterioration function viability, accelerated exhaustion the progenitor pool extensive adipose remodeling, all leading impaired expandability subcutaneous tissue, ectopic lipid accumulation insulin resistance. Understanding mechanisms that contribute turnover is thus important. We have recently refined published an existing method assess vivo adipogenesis using incorporation stable isotope deuterium into DNA isolated adipocytes progenitors from tissue. In this commentary, we highlight further implications determine rate death will enhance our understanding control regional growth.
