摘要: Summary In January 2004, we investigated a cluster of acute hepatitis in Baripada, Orissa, India. Between and March 538 cases (definition: fever with loss appetite jaundice) were reported (attack rate: 263 per 100 000, 5 deaths, case fatality 0.93%). Forty-seven 48 sera positive for IgM antibodies to E virus. Cases peaked February 2004 decreased rapidly, suggesting common source outbreak. Five neighbourhoods supplied by water supply most affected. Ninety-one percent the 30% unaffected controls drinking from one (odds ratio 31, 95% CI 27–48).
