摘要: The Advanced Photon Source (APS) to be constructed at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) utilizes magnetic devices which generate X-ray beams with very intense heat flux levels. Fixed Mask Assembly (FMA) is the first component interact beam. Two sets of a pair FMA channels vertically and horizontally disposed contain beam rather than define it. They are subject large fluxes during containment. In current practice made heavy seamless copper have rectangular cross-sections cooled internally water. Channels set grazing angles ranging from 1 6 degrees respect depending on type insertion device. APS will impose higher FMAs. Therefore need exists improve engineering keeping in mind design criteria philosophy A comparative investigation conventionally achievable transfer coefficient h" water wall conductance tube reveals that major resistance coolant side. there significant opportunity tubes by enhancement To this end an experimentally analytically based research program has been adopted for investigating enhanced cooling methods techniques.
