Quiet time inflation of the inner magnetosphere in the afternoon and evening quadrants

摘要: The quiet time depression of the magnetic field magnitude in equatorial inner magnetosphere was studied for interval November 1971 through June 1972. For periods when Kp less than 2 and Dst between + 10 −20 γ an inflated region near equator found noon midnight. inflation greatest at lowest altitude studied, L = 3, appeared to be somewhat greater midnight, −40 γ, noon, γ. Protons energy above 100 keV observed on same satellite sufficient produce inflation.
