摘要: Abstract A stack of pellicles has been exposed to the 300 MeV πminus;-meson beam 660 proton synchrotron at C.E.R.N., Geneva. The interaction lengths for production inelastic interactions and elastic scatterings through projected angles greater than 5°, found by scanning along 140 m track, are (37.9 ± 2.0) cm (77.4 5.8) respectively compared geometrical length 29.3 cm. By comparison with optical model absorption coefficient change in wave number (1.53 0.15) 1012 cm−1 (1.35 0.12)1012 cm−1, corresponding a nuclear potential real component (25 1) (of which sign is not known), an imaginary component, −(14.1 1.4) mean free path matter (6.5 0.7) 10−13 differences from expected values consistent considerable reduction within nucleus cross section scattering π-mesons nucleons.
