摘要: This paper presents an object-based layered video coding scheme which achieves very high compression efficiency along with the provision for advanced content-based functionalities, e.g., scalability or access and manipulation of data. In a first step, sequence is segmented into several arbitrarily shaped "object layers." To achieve desired baseline shape-adaptive discrete cosine transform (DCT) algorithm introduced can be seen as extension conventional block-based DCT schemes (e.g., H.261, H.263, MPEG-1, MPEG-2) toward image content. order to increase efficiency, approach extended motion prediction toolbox. Using this toolbox, potentially select specific techniques every object layer coded. illustrate concept, technique global background estimation compensation described significantly improves suitable sequences compared standard MPEG schemes.
