Endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder drainage: 10-year single center experience.

摘要: AIM A subset of patients with acute cholecystitis is severely ill and extremely high-risk to undergo cholecystectomy. Data on the use endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder drainage (ETGBD) in treatment are limited. This article reviews 10-year experience ETGBD at Mayo Clinic evaluated patient procedure characteristics. METHODS retrospective review endoscopy database from 1998-2007 was performed identify who had undergone ETGBD. Clinical information details were abstracted electronic medical record. RESULTS Fifty one underwent for between 1998 July 2007. The mean age 62+/-19 years 67% males. median number comorbid conditions two (range 0-5) 27% underlying diabetes mellitus. Acute calculous predominant indication (78%). stent used 33 (65%) patients, nasocholecystic drain 14 (27%) both four (8%). Bleeding (4%) sedation-related complications most common noted. Among cholecystectomy, majority (76%) needed an open procedure. time cholecystectomy 15 days 1-352 days). Four (8%) succumbed septic shock during their hospitalization. CONCLUSIONS a valuable alternative therapeutic modality early and/or those have contraindications percutaneous drainage.
