摘要: This paper explores the relationship between museums and neighborhoods around them. It looks specifically at Wagner Free Institute of Science in North Philadelphia. The research begins with founding 1855, then focuses on major changes institution community through 20th century, ends an observational analysis today. its neighborhood had a close 1950’s, when experienced rapid demographic change simultaneously reduced programs. is break from ideals Wagner, which especially targeted underserved audiences. Today murkier, once again going period change, but does not view as primary audience. paper, ultimately, tries to explore idea communities: how communities are defined who decides relevant.
