What Factors Contribute to Higher Travel Happiness? Evidence from Beijing, China

摘要: Travel happiness has drawn increasing attention in recent years. However, the empirical research developing countries’ context is very limited, and few studies consider both cognitive affective evaluations during traveling. This study uses web-based survey data collected Beijing, China, applies multiple regression analysis to examine impacts of sociodemographic attributes, travel characteristics, residential environment, mode consonance, self-evaluation, health conditions, on happiness. Satisfaction with Scale (STS) used measure Results show that for trips using active modes, traveling by walking higher than nonmotor vehicles. For those motor vehicles, company shuttle bus have highest ratings, followed automobile public transport trips. Transport consonance significantly positively correlated Residential self-reported optimism, daily great positive Living suburban areas more satisfying car trips, but frequency, duration, perceived time length significant negative effects Public use friends enjoyable, unpleasant work partners. More when listening music/radio or reading demonstrated. Finally, policy implications potential extended topics are recommended.
