摘要: Imbalance between proteases and their inhibitors plays a crucial role in the development of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). Increased elastolytic activity is observed colon patients suffering from IBD. Here, we aimed at identifying players involved hyperactivity associated with IBD contribution to disease. We revealed that epithelial cells are major source healthy human colonic tissues this greatly increased patients, both diseased distant sites inflammation. This study identified previously unrevealed production elastase 2A (ELA2A) by cells, which was enhanced patients. demonstrated ELA2A sufficient lead leaky barrier. Epithelial also modified cytokine gene expression profile an increase pro-inflammatory transcripts, while reducing pro-resolving repair factor genes. thus appears as novel actor produced intestinal can drive inflammation loss barrier function, two essentials pathophysiological hallmarks Targeting should be considered potential target for treatment.
