Antibacterial and antifungal activities of benzimidazole and benzoxazole derivatives.

摘要: The in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities of six benzimidazole benzoxazole derivatives were tested against standard strains 59 clinical isolates. Of the compounds, only compounds II III (both benzoxazoles) active, whereas rest devoid any activity. Considerable growth inhibition all strains, including fungi gram-positive gram-negative bacteria, resulted when they treated with these compounds. Fifty-nine isolates Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus for susceptibility to two most susceptible S. comparable activity isolates, compound showing a slightly higher than II. Their respective minimal inhibitory concentrations 90% 25 50 microgram/ml. bacteria resistant required 200 microgram/ml similar degree inhibition.
