摘要: Abstract This study examines the spatial distribution of potential recirculation over East Mediterranean Sea, and combined effect synoptic meso-scale recirculations on plume dispersion in region. For this purpose, three case studies are performed by RAMS–HYPACT modeling system, each for a different scale flow pattern. Both quantitative measure at grid cell particle calculated. Although index is an Eulerian quantity wind field manifestation Lagrangian behavior wind, good correlation found between two. Several locations identified as having high potential, including southern Cyprus, coasts Israel Lebanon, eastern slopes Judean Mountains Haifa Bay particular. In latter location, could be explained strong interaction land–sea surfaces, curvature bay proximity Carmel ridge. It shown that may, under certain conditions, act together same time determining distribution. Under weak flows, particles recirculated entire Sea basin, returning onshore after period 2–3 days to join freshly emitted particles. At time, near-shore breeze effects cause recirculate smaller scales less then one day, sometimes passing much times airshed. A single elevated emission source have impair air quality coastal strip long 100–200 km upon onshore.
