Comparison of certain VLF noise phenomena with the lower hybrid resonance frequency calculated from simultaneous ion composition measurements

摘要: Certain VLF noise phenomena commonly observed with electric dipole antennas on the Alouette, OGO, and Injun 5 spacecraft have been associated lower hybrid resonance frequency of ionospheric medium in vicinity spacecraft. By using simultaneous ion mass spectrometer data from OGO 4, it has now become possible to compare characteristic frequencies these bands fLH calculated directly composition measurements. The results study show a clear correspondence between independent observations over wide range variation fLH. Some differences are also evident suggest that by satellite-borne receivers may not always be determined immediate
