摘要: Measurements of herbage intake and ingestive behaviour were made on British Friesian calves 4–9 months old, which strip-grazed swards S24 perennial ryegrass at three (Experiment A) or four B) levels daily allowance in (A) (B) 12-d periods. Herbage declined by approx. 18% as was reduced from 90 to 30 g DM per kg LW both experiments, but the relationship between not consistent periods. Bite size rate biting greater low than high allowances after entry a new strip positions reversed towards end grazing. Reduced intakes resulted reductions equal magnitude bite size, grazing time, though all these effects significant. It is suggested that responses result increasing difficulty prehending ingesting are grazed down. The did increase probably because their conditioned anticipation herbage. Bite spring sward an autumn sward, within experiments consistently related any characteristics measured.
