Diffusion Cloud-Chamber Study of Very Slow Mesons. I. Internal Pair Formation

摘要: A beam of negative pi and mu mesons was moderated to very low energies allowed enter a hydrogen-filled 20-atmosphere continuously sensitive cloud chamber. The various phenomena were observed classified. detailed study made the internal pair formation mesonic gamma rays produced in pion-hydrogen reactions. conversion coefficient for reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+{e}^{+}+{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ found be 0.0053\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0009; ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}n+{e}^{+}+{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ is 0.0062\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0013. Distributions angle energy obtained from thirty-five forty-seven cases.
