摘要: OBJECTIVES: To explore the implications of limited English proficiency (LEP) for disparities in health status and healthcare service use older Latino Asian immigrants. DESIGN: Cross-sectional analysis existing secondary data. SETTING: The 2007 California Health Interview Survey. PARTICIPANTS: immigrants aged 60 (n=1,745) were divided into three language groups: adults who have LEP, are proficient but also speak another at home (EP), only (EO). MEASUREMENTS: Sociodemographic characteristics, status, use, barriers to compared. RESULTS: Older with LEP tended poorer self-rated higher psychological distress than EP EO groups. They less likely groups services more experience (e.g., difficulty understanding written information doctor's office). CONCLUSION: Latinos Asians risk poor physical mental outcomes inadequate care. Healthcare systems should consider strategies address needs reduce effect linguistic on access care ultimately improve these vulnerable populations.
