摘要: Objectives Epithelial ovarian cancer is characterized by nonspecific signs and clinical symptoms arising at late stages. Early detection therefore important may significantly improve the survival rate. Cancer antigen 125 (CA125) has been most extensively studied serum biomarker in epithelial cancer, but low specificity limits its usefulness. A relatively novel biomarker, human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), shown promise early of disease. The aim this study was to investigate how tumor marker increases before diagnosis. Methods/Materials nested case-control design used evaluate performance HE4 CA125 prediagnostic samples from Janus Serumbank. Serial specimens 120 women with invasive were compared healthy controls. Serum level CA125, HE4, cotinine measured. Spearman correlation multiple linear regression analyses impact smoking, age, storage time, lag time (time sampling until date diagnosis). Results showed a strong positive between smoking both cases Multiple for pairwise differences case control that increased (P = 0.002 P Conclusions present difference controls concentration seemed be 2 years diagnosis
