摘要: The determination of neutralization potential (NP) mining wastes is an essential part waste characterization for acid rock drainage (ARD) prediction. Interpretation NP values requires consideration the mineralogical composition waste. Different minerals can neutralize at different rates and in pH ranges. test conditions widely used laboratory procedures to determine do not distinguish between such differences overestimation often result. A simple procedure proposed which effective calculated based on relative reactivities component minerals. Mineralogical from easily determined analytical using a CIPW normative procedure. Comparison 92 samples with experimentally tests designed prevent indicates that method successful predicting value most cases. considered be cost-effective means providing confident routine ARD prediction when combination other analyses.
