Programming, efficiency and management of tobacco farms in Greece

摘要: In the present paper, possibilities of programming and improving organization management Greek tobacco farms are investigated including issues great interest since latest reform Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Primary techno-economical data from 1181 for period 2005 - 2006 were used. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology was applied in order to investigate if use effectively their inputs, determine average efficiency whether scale operation affects efficiency. Afterwards, method Linear Programming (LP) input suggested ones as derived DEA. According empirical results, operate under increasing returns scale, so consequence is necessary increase size operation. The technical low, while Eastern-type tobaccos still hold efficient production plans contrast Virginia tobacco, which should be replaced with other crops. Finally, new optimal that will assist cope competitive conditions resulted application CAP presented useful policy recommendations derived.
