摘要: Phthalates are universal contaminants. We show that they trapped by the ant cuticles and maintained permanently at a low level, generally less than 1% of cuticular components. They found throughout interior insect, predominately in fat body, which suggests adsorbed cuticle. In open plastic boxes free phthalates ants became more contaminated with over period time, whereas closed glass jars did not. This finding main source pollutants is atmosphere. Different species collected from multiple places showed similar levels contamination. It appeared some pristine contamination was lower, but this needs to be confirmed. Ants can considered as bio-indicators phthalate pollution.
