Causes and Trajectories of Land-Use/Cover Change

摘要: One of the key activities Land-Use/Cover Change (LUCC) project has been to stimulate syntheses knowledge land-use/cover change processes, and in particular advance understanding causes land (see Chap. 1). Such efforts have generally followed one two approaches: broad scale cross-sectional analyses (cross-national statistical comparisons, mainly); detailed case studies at local scale. The LUCC applied a middle path that combines richness indepth with power generalization gained from larger samples, thus drawing upon strengths both approaches. In particular, systematic comparative published on landuse dynamics helped improve our about land-use change. Principally, methods exist for studies. These are sufficiently geographically support generalization, but fine enough capture complexity variability across space time.
