Cylindrical lateral depth-sensing indentation testing of thin transversely isotropic elastic films: Incompressible and weakly compressible materials

摘要: An indentation testing method, which utilizes lateral contact of a long cylindrical indenter, is developed for thin transversely isotropic incompressible elastic lm deposited onto smooth rigid substrate. It assumed that the material symmetry plane orthogonal to substrate surface, and thickness small compared cylinder indenter length. The presented methodology based on least squares best t rst-order asymptotic model depth-sensing data recovering three independent moduli characterize an material. case weakly compressible material, important biological tissues, also discussed.
