摘要: We previously found that the opiate antagonist, naloxone, partially blocks stimulation-produced analgesia (SPA) elicited from ventral but not dorsal regions of medial midbrain in rats. The present study compares effects n. raphe magnus (NRM) lesions on SPA these same two areas. thresholds were measured with tail-flick method and compared before for up to weeks after NRM lesions. A high positive correlation was between percent destruction increase threshold rats electrode placements. Damage brain areas other than seemed contribute effects. conclude is a critical relay pain-suppressive path area rat mediating an opioid form analgesia.
