摘要: Abstract Faceted high-angle tilt grain boundaries have been observed in 〈(1010〉 zinc bicrystals and tricrystals grown from the melt. Faceting occurs over a 5 1 2 dg range of misorientations for angles between 31° 36.5°. The facets, which are asymmetric 〈1010〉 boundaries, singular interfaces corresponding to energy cusps γ-plot boundary vs. inclination surface. Limiting values depth giving rise surface torques acting on presented. conditions for, mechanisms facet formation discussed.
