摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter reveals that the technological advances in handheld computer technology have provided new opportunities for collection of self-monitoring data. Although computing makes ecological momentary assessment (EMA) studies possible is relatively new, as a behavioral technique not. Compared to other approaches, EMA desirable option several reasons. Data may be easily collected on an interval, event-contingent, or random schedule. If signal-contingent interval sampling strategy used, data-collection periods can scheduled at equal intervals using commercially available software. Collected data time-stamped and stored database accessible by routinely used statistical packages. Another advantage EMA, all computerized adaptive testing, branching algorithms programmed into software create sophisticated questionnaires dynamically reconfigure based individual's prior response.
