Array beamformer using unequal power couplers for plural beams

摘要: A multibeam phased array radar includes identical N:1 equal-split combiners and overlay hybrid couplers which form multiple tapered weighted beams. The is configured with a single transmit/receive (T/R) module for each antenna element. T/R modules contain high power amplifier transmit, low noise receive, phase shifter beam steering attenuator overall weighting. Each connected to an unequal-split coupler divides the received signal into signals of different amplitudes. these are fed separate combiner, thereby forming illumination taper determined by coupling values setting attenuator. There disclosed first embodiment including two beamformers second extending concept more than beamformers.
