The Effects of Trans-Theoretical Model and Fear of Dental Care on Dental Cleaning Behavior among Students

摘要: Background: Fear of dental care prevents cleaning behavior and increases the prevalence caries. This study was conducted to determine effect Trans-Theoretical Model constructs fear on students. Materials Methods: cross-sectional carried out in Sanandaj city, Iran, 2017. Using multi-stage sampling, 1,344 male female students were included study. They completed a self-report questionnaire, including demographic information, care. Data analyzed using SPSS software (version 22.0). Results: A total with mean age 15.22±2.64 years participated study; from perspective students, caries (88.4%) most frequent illness tongue inflammation (0.6%) least disease.Overall, 32.9% used no tools for their teeth. perceived barriers reduced significantly during stages (p<0.05) self-efficacy benefits increased (p<0.001). The odds (OR=1.34, 95%CI=1.22-1.48, p<0.05), decreased (OR=0.90, 95%CI=0.80-0.98, p<0.01). Conclusion: findings showed among at low level various factors such as self-efficacy, influenced its performance.
