摘要: Adhatoda vasica or Malabar nut belongs to the family, Acanthaceae. The other well-known members of this genus are A. zeylanica, beddomei, etc. These evergreen and perennial shrub exhibiting high pharmaceutical value. plant consists a wide array metabolites that are, namely, vasicine, vasicinone, vasicinol, vasicine glycoside, 5-hydroxy deoxy adhavasicinone, vasicolinone, adhatodine, vasnetine anisotine. leaves roots exhibit anti-inflammatory antiseptic properties, respectively. Having immense potential for its use in industry, these species need be harnessed through biotechnological advancements enhanced production their secondary metabolites. This chapter provides an insight approaches, mainly vitro-based methods via direct indirect regeneration (callus-mediated) cell suspension culture, boosted with elicitors, enhancing accumulation key (vasicine vasicinone). Additionally, loopholes existing technologies arenas not yet explored also addressed needs worked on near future.
