摘要: Linguistic diversity among school-aged children in the United States has grown rapidly over last 30 years, and this trend is expected to continue coming years. This chapter presents an overview of research on science education for young emergent bilinguals preschool through third grade settings. body work provides important insights but also raises many questions about how unfolds can be improved learning a second or additional language early childhood educational contexts. We begin with brief discussion contexts which (research on) bilingual occurs. then examine empirical research, organizing our review along four dimensions that emerged as main analytic foci across studies: curriculum development, teacher professional student outcomes, classroom interaction. Across these foci, hands-on inquiry-based figures prominently, does integration English development. conclude by discussing implications practice, directions future need further multiple perspectives methodological approaches processes outcomes their teachers
