摘要: Abstract The authors explored the hypothesis that functional behavior of childhood brain tumors can be estimated by serial analysis imaging (thallium-201 [ 201 Tl] single-photon emission computed tomography and magnetic resonance [MRI]) examinations. Seventy-five patients diagnosed on clinical or histologic grounds were monitored for a period 1 day to 3.9 years (mean ± S.D. = 1.39 1.10 years). Abnormal Tl uptake appeared denote subgroup lesions with distinctly greater mortality morbidity. Of Tl-positive patients, 17% died within course this study; no deaths occurred among Tl-negative group. Other parameters disease outcome also clearly separated groups, former demonstrating 50% shorter recurrence-free survival from time diagnosis (two-tailed t test, P positivity in correlating but failed predict duration survival. conclude activity provides significant predictive information expected biologic tumors, both life expectancy. This complements extends data provided MRI enhancement patterns.
