摘要: Role of applied stress on intragranular precipitation in Mg-Nd alloys was investigated by subjecting Mg-0.5at%Nd tensile bars to creep deformation at a nominal 90 MPa and 177°C. Prior work creep-tested studied after 100 Hrs [Choudhuri et.al. Metal Trans A Comm.2013, 44, 2905]. Developing this published work, the present investigation systematically examined precipitate formation during early (5 Hrs) middle (100 stages creep. Very resulted homogeneous distribution fine-scale β’ precipitates within α-Mg matrix. Contrastingly, similar time frame relatively localized β1 noted — presumably decorating dislocation lines. Interesting, throughout deformation, α1 plates exhibited preferential alignment tendencies specific set \({\{ 10\bar 10\} _{Mg}}planes / _{Mg}}\) directions. Such along favorable slip directions matrix may influence response alloy.
