摘要: The cracking of Si particles in an A357 Al alloy has been investigated over a spectrum stress and strain by varying aging strength applying different tensile strains. variation the fraction broken with stress, strain, cleavage plane orientation obtained. features reveal that is very localized event. A dislocation pileup mechanism most probable one among all crack-initiation theories for explaining behavior. Based on this mechanism, further deduction made to obtain relationship between metallurgical factors. present data, along Gurlandrss Lowet al., have found verify effect orientation.
